Brazilian Scientists Get Similar Compounds Morphine in Coffee
A research in Brazil opens a morphine-like content in coffee, one of the most popular drinks in the world. These compounds have the same effect of soothing and anti-painful and even longer-lasting effects. The findings were uncovered by an agriculture research agency, Embrapa. Through its genetic resources division as well as its thiotechnology at the University of Brasilia (UnB), some scientists from this company find the protein content in coffee that has not yet been unveiled first. Protein or peptide in the coffee has an impact such as morphine that eases pain and reassure or sedative. "" The effect lasted longer in trials in mice, "" notes some scientists, taken from SBS, Monday (26/01/2015). The two institutions, Embrapa and UnB, are registering patents on the findings. There are 7 compound 'opioid peptides' identified in the research and will also be registered patent. Embrapa mentions that these findings have potential for biotechnology for the health food industry and can help deal with stress on livestock that will also be brought to animal slaughterhouses. Th. 2004, Embrapa also sequences the functional genomes in coffee. Research was a big step in combining coffee genes to obtain high quality coffee beans. (up / vit)
